Hon Dr Tony Okechukwu Nwoye has emerged the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra state.

In a successful primary held at Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre Awka, Mr Tony Nwoye polled 2,146 votes to defeat his closest rival Andy Uba who polled 931 votes.

The total vote cast was 4333 out of the total accredited voters 4,458 while 31 votes were declared invalid.

Declaring the result today, the Borno state governor and chairman Anambra Governorship Primary committee, Alhaji Kashim Shettima said the party provided a level playing ground for the whole contestants out of which Tony Nwoye emerged victorious having garnered the highest vote cast.

He noted that APC is built on true internal democracy, hence the party had no interest on who had become the party’s flagbearer in Anambra state.
